I am Brian Hackett. I work for Mozilla on the Firefox web browser. I mostly do Javascript static analysis and performance work, and also C/C++ static analysis for bugfinding. Earlier, I got a Ph.D. at Stanford and a B.S. at Cornell. This blog is about the other stuff I do.
I like trees, mountains, water and wildlife (not an exclusive list!), and do a fair amount of outdoorsy stuff. This includes scuba diving, sea kayaking, whitewater kayaking, sailing, road biking, mountain biking, backpacking, backcountry skiing and surfing. A few more sports I’d like to pick up. I also do landscape and wildlife photography.
Since December 2011 I’ve been living in a tent trailer and working remotely. This has been great for traveling and enjoying the western US. Since 2008 I’ve taken trips of a couple months away from school and work roughly once a year, to see more of the world.
